Shakib Al Hasan has no explanation for bowling lesser in the Dhaka Test against Ireland. In the entire match, the Irish batted 193.2 overs, while Shakib bowled only 16 overs. Only 3 overs in the first innings. Several members of the Bangladesh team were asked about this, but no one could give an answer.

At the end of the match, Shakib himself said that he has no explanation for bowling less. Instead, the Bangladesh captain trusted the remaining 5 bowlers, Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, using the advantage of going down with 6 bowlers.

Shakib said, “No, there is no such explanation. It's not mandatory for someone to bowl, when you have about five-six weapons then you don't need to use them all the time.

"Does that mean Bangladesh can't play except me? We've enough bowlers to take 20 wickets and I believe in them and they proved as well.”

The bowlers did not get many advantages in the Mirpur Test. Explaining the rationale of playing with so many bowlers on a batting-friendly wicket, Shakib added, "When you want 20 wickets you need more bowlers as options, there's no alternative. You choose less bowling options when you try to play defensive cricket and desire to draw the Test. When you want to win you will play with five-six bowling options and big teams do the same thing too.

"Especially if you look at India and England, you will see them playing with five-six main bowlers and six batters.”

Shakib also indicated that Bangladesh will play Tests with 5-6 bowlers in the future. According to him, "Miraz is capable to play in at number seven and if he bats at number seven then we are having an extra bowling option which is good for our team. Everyone can rest and no pressure will create on them."
