Chattogram Challengers defeated Sylhet Strikers by 8 wickets in the first match of the day in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). With this great win, Chattogram have climbed to the top of the points table.  

Sylhet Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Sylhet struggled at the beginning. Two openers Mohammad Mithun and Najmul Hossain Shanto returned to the dressing room within a few runs. Mithun got out with 1 run off 4 balls. Shanto also got out in the same over. He scored 5 runs off 7 balls. Sylhet lost two openers within just 8 runs and went on the back foot at the beginning.

After that, Zakir Hasan and Harry Tector took charge of the team. Both seemed to be very fluent with the bat. Due to their great batting, Sylhet scored 137 runs after losing 4 wickets after the scheduled 20 overs. Harry Tector scored 45 runs, Zakir scored 31 runs and Ryan Burl scored 34 runs.

The bowlers of Chattogram were also brilliant with the ball. Bilal Khan took 3 wickets. Besides, Nihaduzzaman got 1 wicket.

Chattogram's two openers, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Avishka Fernando, started to respond from the start. 23 runs came from the opening pair. Avishka got out after scoring 17 runs off 12 balls.

Then Tom Bruce went to the crease and made a partnership with Tanzid Tamim. Chattogram's innings got a strong foundation due to the responsible batting of the two. They scored 47 runs after losing Avishka’s wicket in 6 overs of Powerplay. Tanzid Tamim and Bruce were in great rhythm with the bat even at the end of the powerplay. They started moving towards the target slowly with the fluent batting of the two.

Tanzid Tamim and Bruce continued to increase the runs without giving any chance to Sylhet's bowlers. As a result of their effective batting, Chattogram got an easy victory. Tanzid Tamim scored 50 runs from 40 balls. Bruce was undefeated after playing a great innings of 51 runs from 44 balls. On the other hand, Dipu survived by scoring 13 runs off 11 balls.
