24-year-old young cricketer Harry Brook is not in England's World Cup plans. Although he is a little disappointed not to be able to make it to the initial team, he can't complain because he leaves a place for one of the world's best Ben Stokes.
Brook is regarded as one of the promising future cricketers. His batting average is 62 in Test format. He is also doing well in T20s. He got a chance to play only three matches in ODIs. One of these three matches has an innings of 80 runs.
This young cricketer had to be dropped from England's World Cup plans at the last moment. Brook spoke about being left out of the World Cup squad while playing in The Hundred tournament. He said that he is trying to overcome this situation.
"Obviously it's disappointing but I can't do anything about it now. You've just got to move on. I'm trying not to think about it anymore,” Brook said.
Stokes' return was very likely. Because the team's head coach Matthew Mott and captain Jos Buttler wanted Stokes very much in the World Cup. But they informed Brook that he would lose his place after Stokes’ come back. That's why Brook has no complaints.
"I've not had much conversation with Matthew (Mott) or Jos (Buttler). They said with Stokesy coming back I was probably going to miss out this time. He is one of the best players to ever play cricket, so I can't really complain, can I?,” he added.
"I feel like I'm playing well at the minute and feel I could potentially add value to the team. There's always something more you could do."
It cannot be said whether Stokes will bowl in the World Cup or not. However, Mott and Buttler plan to play Stokes as a 'specialist' batter.
