Bangladesh, NZ observe silence over umpire Nadir Shah's death
Nadir was recently battling with illness. He breathed his last in early hours of Friday (September 10) after his physical condition deteriorated. His funeral was held in Dhaka's Dhanmondi city after Jummah prayers.

Bangladesh and New Zealand teams have observed a minute silence remembering umpire Nadir Shah, who passed away today aged 57, before the start of the fifth T20I at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
Nadir was recently battling with illness. He breathed his last in early hours of Friday (September 10) after his physical condition deteriorated. His funeral was held in Dhaka's Dhanmondi city after Jummah prayers.
Nadir officiated in six men's Tests, 63 men's ODIs, three men's T20Is and three women's ODIs. He last officiated in men's international game in 2011.
The Dhaka-born's last competitive match as an umpire was in the National Cricket League (NCL). in 2019. In the same year he umpired in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
Bangladesh Cricket Board has expressed sadness on Nadir's demise.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury, BCB chief executive, said, "Nadir Shah was a most affable person who was loved and respected by all in the cricket fraternity. He will be missed. He lived for cricket and had always executed his responsibility as an umpire with fairness. We pray for the salvation of his soul."
Bangladesh players are donning black arm bands in the ongoing fifth T20I.
