The players’ draft for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is scheduled for October 14, and teams are already securing key signings through direct contracts. Among the franchises, the new team Dhaka Capitals is leading the charge, adding a host of star players to their squad. The latest name to join their ranks is England’s explosive batter, Alex Hales.

Dhaka Capitals, making their debut in this edition of the BPL, have been aggressively building their squad. They have already signed prominent players like Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzid Hasan Tamim. Additionally, Caribbean star Johnson Charles will also represent Dhaka alongside Alex Hales, who is their latest acquisition.

The franchise confirmed Hales’ inclusion via their official Facebook page, stating, “Alex Hales is a DHAKAIYA! He is all set to arrive at the Dhaka Capitals station, ready to unleash his firepower in BPL. Can he take the capital to glory? Stay tuned for all the explosive action!”

Alex Hales, a key member of England’s T20 World Cup-winning squad, has an impressive T20 international record, having played 75 matches, scoring 2,074 runs with 12 fifties and one century. His sole T20I century came during the 2014 World Cup, which was held in Bangladesh.

This won’t be Hales’ first experience in the BPL. He has previously played for Rangpur Riders and Khulna Tigers in two different seasons. Now, fans will witness him in action once again in the upcoming season, this time for Dhaka Capitals.

Interestingly, the Dhaka franchise in BPL has frequently changed ownership over the years. This season, the franchise is owned by a company managed by renowned Bangladeshi film star Shakib Khan under the banner of Remark Harlean. Dhaka has participated in the BPL under various names in the past, but with the new ownership and fresh signings, they are looking to make a strong impact in the upcoming season.
