Aleem Dar, one of the most respected and admired figures in the world of cricket, has announced his retirement from umpiring, bringing an end to a remarkable career that spanned nearly 25 years. Dar will officially step down after the conclusion of Pakistan's current domestic season.

Widely known for his professionalism, calm demeanor, and outstanding decision-making, Dar has left an indelible mark on the game. A recipient of the prestigious David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year three times consecutively (2009-2011), Dar's contributions to cricket extend far beyond his on-field duties.

Reflecting on his decision to retire, the 56-year-old umpiring maestro remarked, "Umpiring has been my life for nearly 25 years and I have cherished the privilege of officiating some of the most iconic matches involving the greatest players of this generation."

Having started his career as a cricketer, Dar played 17 first-class and 18 List-A matches between 1986 and 1998. He made his umpiring debut during the 1998-99 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and went on to join the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires in 2003, serving until 2023. Throughout his career, Dar officiated in over 400 international matches across all formats, making him one of the most experienced umpires in the sport.

"Throughout my career, I've strived to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, and it has been an honour to work alongside some of the finest match officials in the world," Dar shared as he reflected on his long-standing career.

"Having achieved almost everything that I had aspired to in umpiring with the unwavering support of my peers and colleagues, I also feel it's the right moment to step aside and allow emerging umpires to shine," Dar said as he expressed his hope that new umpires will continue to represent Pakistan with pride.
