Akbar, Naim shine in HP warm-up

Team 'A', led by Afif Hossain took on Naim Sheikh's Team 'B' in the two-day warm-up match at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Players of High Performance Unit were divided into two teams to play a red-ball match. Team 'B' elected to bowl first at the toss.

Akbar came in at no.5 when his side were 132/3. He and opener Shahadat Hossain Dipu guided Team 'A' towards a big total at a healthy run rate. Shahadat fell to Noman Chowdhury Sagor just six runs short of a hundred. He played 162 balls for his 94 runs that included 14 boundaries.
Akbar cashed in on the opportunity to make a mark. He brought up his hundred in 137 balls. The wicket-keeper batsman paired up with
Patwary to charge Team 'B' bowlers. Shamim played a briskfire knock of 46-ball 67 runs hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes.
Team 'A' finished day one with 406/7d in 80 overs. Akbar top-scored with 136 runs from 261 deliveries. His innings saw 20 fours and 2 sixes. Skipper Afif managed only 12 runs.
Skipper Naim Sheikh battled for Team 'B' on the second day. He and Parvez Hossain Emon made a solid start in the opening stand. Rakibul Hasan broke the 77-run partnership by trapping Emon lbw for 35.

Left-arm spinner
denied Naim a century. Naim departed scoring 83 runs off 129 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes.
(42 runs from 79 balls) and
(58 off 84) helped their side to reach a respectable score.
In the end, Hasan and pacer
dragged down Team 'B's score to 266 allout, leaving them 150 runs behind. Both grabbed four wickets in the innings. Afif rolled his arm for 11 overs which included five maidens. He gave away only 16 runs.
