Being asked to bat first, Fazalhaq Farooqi ran riot through the PNG's top order removing Lega Siaka and Sese Bau. Naveen - Ul Haq joined the party and he got the wickets of Tony Ura and Hiri Hiri.
Kiplin Doriga was the only one who went past 20 marks barrier, as the wk-batter scored a gritty 27 off 32 balls and helped PNG post 95 on the board. Another credit to Afghanistan's bowling as they conceded 25 extras.
In reply, Ibrahim Zadran found it tough to get going as he had a 7 ball duck. Other opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz went back to the hut scoring 11 off 7. Gulbadin Naib stood tall and counterattacked PNG bowlers to get the momentum back. He made a fantastic 49* off only 36 balls and helped Afghanistan chase down the total at ease. With the win, Afghanistan have reached to the playoffs of ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
