Pakistan dominated the entire day 3 like they did on day 1. That day with their venomous bowling and today with their batting. Abdullah Shafique led the platform with his marathon double hundred. While Agha Salman, Saud Shakeel kept the truck going.
Pakistan started the day with Babar and Shafique on the crease. The duo added 89 runs before the former one fell to left armer Prabath Jayasuriya for 6th time in Test Cricket. Saud Shakeel came and gave handa to Abdullah Shafique and the duo made an enormous 109 run stand. Shakeel brought up his 7th straight Test fifty and made a fine 57 off 110 balls before falling to Asitha Fernando. Sarfaraz Ahmed was retired hurt after scoring 14 and went back to the pavilion due to injury.
The final nail of the coffin was from Shafique and Agha Salman when these two added 149 runs with utter dominance. Throughout the passage of play, Abdullah Shafique, the 23 year old opener notched up his maiden double hundred in Test Cricket and took Pakistan to the ascendency in the match. However his marathon knock came to an end when he fell to Prabath Jayasuriya for a brilliant 201 off 326 balls. Agha Salman, on the other hand, notched up hundred as well and is batting on 132 off only 148 balls.
Pakistan are now 563-5 and are ahead of Sri Lanka 397 runs. They've still their two set batters out at the middle in Agha Salmam (132*) and Mohammad Rizwan (37*). They'll be eyeing for some fireworks tomorrow from this duo to stretch the lead over 450.
