United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a 16-member squad for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. With this series, experienced cricketer Mohammad Waseem will make his debut as the captain of the T20 team.

Waseem was given the leadership of the UAE ODI team at the beginning of this year. This time the leadership of the T20 team was handed over to him also by the Emirates Cricket Board. The 29-year-old batter has played 23 T20 matches for UAE. He scored 942 runs at an average of around 43 and a strike-rate of 144. He has two centuries and seven half-centuries.

Asif Khan is another surprise for the UAE team in the series against New Zealand. At the age of 33, he got a chance in the T20 team. He has already played 30 ODIs for the UAE. However, he did not get a chance to play T20 so far. Finally, he scored the fastest century for the country against Nepal and came to the T20 team's radar.

The three-match T20I series between UAE and New Zealand will be played on August 17, 19, and 20 respectively. All matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
