India's young batting sensation, Yashasvi Jaiswal, is gearing up for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh and has lavished praise on newly appointed head coach, Gautam Gambhir. After Rahul Dravid’s tenure ended following India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory, Gambhir stepped into the head coach role.

The left-hander, who made headlines with a century on his Test debut against the West Indies and further cemented his place in the team with an outstanding 712-run tally in the five-match series against England, which concluded in India, shared his thoughts on the impact Gambhir has had on the team.

In a recent interview with PTI, the Rajasthan Royals batter expressed gratitude for the support he’s received from Gambhir, saying that the coach encourages players to enjoy their cricket and play with freedom.

"Yes, I have spoken with him during the Sri Lanka series. He really backed us, saying just go out and play freely and enjoy the game, and we will be with you. It gives us a lot of confidence and helps us to play fearlessly,” Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal is focused on honing his skills ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

“I am working hard at nets ahead, first for the Duleep Trophy and then for the Bangladesh series. It’s not about setting personal goals, as you know in cricket you have to be consistent and keep working on your skills,” Jaiswal explained.

For Jaiswal, domestic tournaments like the Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy have played a critical role in boosting his confidence before major international series.

“I make an effort to stay in my comfort zone and help the team win. Prior to a Test series, it is highly beneficial for you to play such competitive games, and you can learn a lot from competitions like the Duleep Trophy,” Jaiswal added
