This year’s edition of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is near the end. The current champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Abahani Limited are going to meet in the unofficial final of the ongoing Super League tomorrow.

Abahani and Sheikh Jamal have tied 6 points so far in the Super League phase of DPL. The team that win the last match will be the champion. This match has therefore received the title of 'final'. Abahani captain Mosaddek Hossain spoke to the media before this unscripted final. Mosaddek is optimistic about the team and wants to give his hundred percent on the field.

Speaking to the media today (May 12), Mossadek said, “Actually, as long as I have been playing in Abahani, we have had such a thing with Sheikh Jamal that they won one match and we won one match. In this case, it is actually seen as a lucky charm as we lost the first match in the group stage. So it can be our inspiration from previous years that we have won most of the times with them in the second match. Of course, we are playing very well as a team. I have faith in the team that everyone has given me that support and effort. I hope they will give me that effort in the last match as well. I expect it to be a very competitive match.”

However, Mosaddek is not happy with the loss of the last match against Gazi Group Cricketers. According to him, "(The loss in the last match) is definitely disappointing. The way we played in the last match never felt like Abahani played like Abahani. As a result, it is an alarming thing for us that what happened in the last match should not happen again in the next match. Of course, that's just what we've been discussing. I'm certainly hopeful that the way we played in the last match won't happen (again) I think. I have that faith in everyone.”

Mosaddek sees Sheikh Jamal as a strong opponent. He added, “Actually, you can't take anyone who played in this tournament lightly. Nothing to take lightly. I think there must have been a bit of trouble, maybe we took it a bit lightly that's why we lost the last match. There is one last match left and it will be an equal match. There is no chance to think about anything else. As a result, we have to give 100 percent effort here.”

Mosaddek further said, “If you can't actually score 300+ on such a good wicket, it becomes really difficult for the bowlers. I think our bowling unit is very good MashaAllah. In fact, even after a difficult period, they come back very well. Sheikh Jamal is a very good competitor. They have the ability to beat any team in the tournament. We will try to give our 100 percent effort on the field.”
