India captain Rohit Sharma thinks that they were very smart and good with both bat and ball which gives them the victory against Bangladesh in the Super Eight match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

India beat Bangladesh by 50 runs on Saturday (22nd June) in Antigua. India posted a massive 196 on the board earlier on. Hardik Pandya's breezy fifty, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube and Virat Kohli's mid 30's helped them get to this huge total. For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled an exceptional spell but other bowlers leaked away too many runs on the decent surface in Antigua. In reply, India were excellent with the ball and Jasprit Bumrah once again stood tall, with Kuldeep Yadav showed his masterful bowling display to beat Bangladesh.

“Considering everything we played really well, adapted to the conditions. There's a little bit of wind factor here, overall we are very smart, overall we were good with bat and ball,” Rohit said.

All the batters of India were aggressive in batting from the first ball and Rohit thinks that that’s the way to play in T20s. He adds that they don’t believe in fifties or hundreds, they want every batters to play their role. “All eight batters need to play their role, whatever it is. We saw one guy get 50 and we got 197, in T20 I don't believe we need to get fifties and hundreds, what matters is the pressure you put on the bowlers. All the batters from the word go played like that and that's how we want to play as well. There is a lot of experience in the squad and we back them,” Rohit added.

Hardik played a brilliant knock of 50 runs off just 27 balls to give India a big total of 196 runs. Rohit praise Hardik after the match. “I mentioned in the last game as well, him batting well puts us in a good stead. We want to finish well after the top 5, 6, Hardik being Hardik we know what he is capable of. He is a very important player for us, if he can keep doing that, it will put us in good positions,” Rohit concluded.

India will face Australia in their last match of the Super Eight on June 24.
