The first four days of the Ashes Test opener between England and Australia came to a close. Both teams are still in the contest, with the game slightly tilting towards England's favour. The hosts set up a target of 281 for the visitors at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Stuart Broad gets rid of Steve Smith with a brilliant ball
Australia got off to a terrific start with the help of their opening pair - David Warner and Usman Khawaja. The duo added 61 runs for the opening wicket before Ollie Robinson opened his account by dismissing Warner with a tricky delivery and the experienced southpaw had to depart after making 36 runs.

Stuart Broad ensured to make another breakthrough for the team by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne for 13. Later on, England once again benefitted from the services of Stuart Broad as the latter used all his experience to get rid of Australia's best batter Steve Smith with a magnificent ball.

Steve Smith tried to play the ball that was coming outside the off-stump. His decision was to middle the ball in an attempt to score a boundary but as it turned out, he got a thick outside edge and the ball travelled towards Jonny Bairstow behind the wickets.

England did the right thing to get the prized wicket of Smith early on. He is best known for taking the game away from the opposition with smart batting technique. However, Stuart Broad dismissed Australia's trump card with a stellar ball as Smith made his way to the dressing room after scoring 6 runs.

Australia ended Day 4 with 107/3 in 30 overs and they still require 173 runs to win the game whereas England require seven wickets to take the first lead in the series.
