The Australian cricket team led by Pat Cummins have performed well in clutch moments of the game, much better than England cricket team in the ongoing Ashes series. Rightly so, they won the first two games and took a 2-0 lead in the series.

Aussies need a draw or a win in the upcoming Leeds Test to retain the urn. As things stand, they seem to be the clear-cut favourites to win the Ashes for the 35th time. The third Test between the two titans will go all guns blazing on July 6, Thursday at Headingley, Leeds.
During the second Test match at Lord's, Jonny Bairstow was dismissed in a bizarre manner, although it is still within the rules of the game. Bairstow was leaving the crease early and the wicketkeeper, Alex Carey studied his pattern before running him out.
Bairstow didn't expect this in the first place and was given out since he was out of the crease. While several people applauded Carey's presence of mind, others criticized him for playing against the spirit of the game. Needless to say, many cricket experts echoed that the 'laws of the game' has nothing to do with the spirit of the game.

Jonny Bairstow's dismissal was the turning point of the game as it slowly tilted the game towards Australia's favour. The Aussies went on to beat England by 43 runs and marched on ahead in the series. Meanwhile, England paceman Stuart Broad has reacted to Jonny Bairstow's controversial dismissal.
"With regards to the Jonny incident, zero advantage was being taken there: he let the ball go, scratched his mark within the crease, and acknowledging it as the end of the over, went to speak to Ben Stokes. If you look at the footage of when the stumps were broken, one umpire has got the bowler’s cap in his hand, the other is head down, walking in from square leg — actions that suggest they too thought the over had finished," wrote Stuart Broad in his column for the Daily Mail.
Besides that, the veteran cricketer also slammed accusations of Bairstow trying to get rid of Marnus Labuschagne in a similar fashion, adding that Australia's Test specialist bats from outside the crease.
"I have seen a clip from earlier in the match when in his guise as a wicketkeeper, Jonny himself threw the ball at the stumps. But that was because Marnus Labuschagne was batting outside of his crease — in doing so, attempting to take the lbw out of the game. In other words, seeking an advantage," Broad added.
