The fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) had its share of fiery moments, including a playful exchange between Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and Australian batting stalwart Steve Smith.

After dismissing Usman Khawaja in the second innings, Siraj celebrated with his trademark "finger on the lips" gesture, silencing the Melbourne crowd. However, Steve Smith didn’t let Siraj have the last word.

In the 19th over of the second innings, Siraj bowled a full delivery to Khawaja, which straightened just enough to find the gap between the Australian opener's bat and pad, knocking over his off-stump.

Khawaja, who scored a gritty 50 in the first innings, could only manage 21 off 65 balls this time. Siraj, fired up after the crucial breakthrough, celebrated with his signature "shush" gesture directed at the crowd.

Steve Smith, batting next, noticed the celebration and cheekily responded later by mimicking Siraj’s finger-on-the-lips gesture.

Smith’s playful reaction added some light-hearted tension to the game, but Siraj quickly had the last laugh. In the same spell, Siraj dismissed Smith for 13, forcing an outside edge off a half-volley, with Rishabh Pant taking a comfortable catch behind the stumps.

The pumped-up Siraj celebrated animatedly as he claimed two vital wickets for India.
