In the ongoing third Test between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Ajaz Patel delivered a brilliant bowling performance during India's second innings. The left-arm spinner turned the game on its head in the morning session of Day 3, dismissing key Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill in successive overs, unsettling the hosts in their pursuit of a 147-run target.

Shubman Gill, who came out to bat in India’s second innings, struggled to get going. He managed just 1 run from four balls before being undone by a magical delivery from Ajaz Patel. On the last ball of the fourth over, Patel bowled a fuller arm ball that Gill misjudged. Expecting the ball to turn away, Gill left it, only to watch in disbelief as the ball spun sharply back in and rattled his off-stump.

Gill stood at the crease, stunned, as he tried to process how the ball had turned so dramatically to dismiss him.

Shortly after Gill's dismissal, Indian former captain Virat Kohli arrived at the crease but could not make a significant impact. Kohli managed just 1 run from seven balls before Patel struck again, sending him back to the pavilion. Patel’s exceptional control and accuracy gave New Zealand the upper hand as India found themselves reeling at 47-5, still needing 100 runs to win.
