Nitish Reddy played a crucial role in salvaging India’s innings during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 at the Adelaide Oval. The Hyderabad all-rounder put up a remarkable counter-attack, showcasing his wide array of shots and giving India a fighting chance after a top-order collapse.
Reddy stunned the Australian bowlers with a series of unorthodox strokes, most notably a spectacular reverse scoop for six off Scott Boland. On the second delivery of the 42nd over, Boland bowled a length ball outside off-stump, and Reddy’s audacious shot sailed over the slips for a maximum. His execution of the shot left even his partner, Jasprit Bumrah, amused.
Reddy continued to press on, smashing another boundary off the very next ball. That over alone yielded 21 runs, 19 of which came from Reddy’s bat. His fearless approach breathed life into India’s struggling innings, and even Rishabh Pant, known for his unconventional shots, would have surely been impressed.
