Trent Bridge to rename Pavilion End in Stuart Broad's honor

Trent Bridge's Pavilion End will now be known as The Stuart Broad End. Broad, 37, went out on a high note this summer as he squared the Ashes at 2-2 with a 49-run victory against Australia at The Oval. It was his 604th and final wicket in 16 years of Test cricket.

Trent Bridge is the hometown of England's former star fast bowler Stuart Broad. Broad retired after playing the last Ashes. He holds the record of taking eight wickets in an innings in Tests at home. Which is again his career best. This time he was given a unique honor by Trent Bridge.

Although Broad began his professional career with Leicestershire, he has deep roots with Nottinghamshire and the Trent Bridge area. Broad has played for Nottinghamshire for 16 seasons.

Broad bowled well from the End that will be named after him in several of his best Test innings. His first of two Test hat-tricks (and the only one to be accomplished at the ground) came in the second Test of that summer (2011) against India. Then, in 2015, he bowled Australia out for 60 on the first morning of the fourth Test, a score that effectively sealed the Ashes for England.

Broad was delighted to receive such recognition. Broad said, "When I first visited Trent Bridge, as a kid with dreams of pulling on the Nottinghamshire and England jerseys, I could never have imagined I'd be fortunate enough to enjoy so many memorable moments in the game.

"It's a bit surreal to think that part of the ground where I fell in love with cricket will now bear my name. Playing for Notts has meant so much to me, and I've been so grateful that, wherever my career has taken me, I've always been able to come home to Trent Bridge. As someone who is Nottingham born and bred, this is an incredibly proud moment for myself and my family."

Broad represented England in all three formats in a long career. The bowling partnership between him and James Anderson was outstanding. However, since 2015, Broad only continued to play Tests.

Broad played 344 matches for England in three editions. He took 847 wickets—604 in Tests, 178 in ODIs, and 65 in T20Is. He also contributed to the needs of the team with the bat. He hit 13 fifties and one century in Tests. On the day of his century against Pakistan, he formed an epic 332-run partnership with Jonathan Trott, the eighth-wicket highest in Test history.

Broad finished his career at No. 4 in the Test bowler rankings. He has a record of getting a wicket in the last ball of his cricket career. Broad is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in Test history. Stuart Broad's 153 wickets in the Ashes is England's highest and the third-highest overall.
