The Indian Premier League (IPL) has curtained down on Sunday as Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad to win their third title of the tournament.

Harshal Patel won Purple Cap for the second time of his career. 
This season was full of run fests and graveyards for bowlers as a lot of matches saw teams scoring 250+ runs at ease with records were in tatters. Majority of the pitches had nothing to offer for the bowlers. Despite not getting much assistance form the conditions, some bowlers shone in this season. Here are the top five highest wicket-takers of the season.

1. Harshal Patel (PBKS) : Punjab Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs but their paceman Harshal was standout throughout the season, picking up 24 wickets to his name at an average of only 19.87. He won the Purple cap for being the highest wicket-taker of the season. This is the second time he has won this award.

2. Varun Chakravarthy (KKR) : Varun Chakravarthy from KKR has been phenomenal. Picking up 21 wickets to his name, giving away only 8.04 this season. He was sharp and effective in the middle overs for the team.

3. Jasprit Bumrah (MI) : Despite not qualifying for the playoffs, Jasprit Bumrah was standout throughout the season. Standing at 3rd in the highest wicket-taker list including a 5-21 this season.

4. Andre Russell (KKR) : Andre Russell is the only all-rounder in this list and has been superb for KKR in the death overs. H picked up 19 wickets to his name to stand at 4th in the ladder.

5. Harshit Rana (KKR) : KKR's bowling lineup was breathing fire this season, as three of top five wicket-takers of the season have been from Kolkata Knight Riders. Harshit Rana was a find of the season. KKR found a gem in Harshit Rana, his death bowling masterclass won them many league matches. He picked up 19 wickets this season at an average of 20.15.
