Ireland captain Paul Stirling reveals that they thought that they would loss the match against Pakistan by 8 wickets but in the end they fought well.

Ireland lost to Pakistan by 3 wickets in another low scoring thriller in Florida on Sunday (June 16). Shaheen Shah Afridi and Imad Wasim both shared 3 wickets each to skittle Ireland's innings to a meagre 106 runs. In reply, Babar Azam anchored Pakistan to the way to their target.

“They put pressure on us and they blew away our top-order away and that was the difference. Proud of our fight we showed today, we were 30-5 and managed to get to that score in the end which wasn't too far away. Thought we will lose by 8 wickets but we fought and that shows we want to play good cricket,” Stirling said.

Ireland haven’t won any match in this year’s tournament. Stirling says that they hadn’t got the T20 cricket tempo right in the tournament. “It's about getting the balance right, in T20 cricket you need that tempo, we haven't got that quite right, we needed to go hard at certain times but couldn't. It's been a difficult couple of weeks, we will regroup in the next couple of months and years to come,” Stirling concluded.
