48-year-old Indian leg-spinner Pravin Tambe has become the first Indian cricketer to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 on Wednesday (August 26). This has opened a new door for the Indian cricketers in CPL. Tambe becomes first Indian to play in CPL

Tambe got a chance in the Trinbago Knight Riders' starting XI against the against St Lucia Zouks. He’s the oldest player in T20 history to feature in a T20 league match. He got the chance in the playing XI in replace of Sunil Narine in the match. He bowled 1 over in the match and got the wicket of Afghanistan hard-hitter batsman Najibullah Zadran. The spinner went for 15 runs in that over. Former India Under-19 cricketer Sunny Sohal played in the CPL before Pravin Tambe at the age of 32-year old. Sunny also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, he played for the United States national cricket team before playing for Barbados Tridents in the 2018 CPL. Tambe played in the IPL for the first time in 2013 at the age of 41. He had never played cricket at the senior level before. He also holds the record for the oldest debut in the IPL. Tambe later became the highest wicket taker in the 2013 Champions League T20 tournament. In the same year, he got a place in the Ranji team of Mumbai. Tambe became the oldest player to bag an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract last year when he was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction. But later he’s announced ineligible by IPL’s Governing Council because of his participation in T10 League in the UAE.
