Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangaluru by 25 runs on Monday (15th April) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Travis Head's blistering hundred, Heinrich Klaasen's blitzkrieg 67 off 31 balls and then the late thunderbolts from Abdul Samad ensured SRH that they've passed their own record. And then Pat Cummins' 3 fer helped SRH to sneak away with two crucial points.
Head-ball
Being invited to bat first, SRH had a rollicking way to start their innings. Courtesy Travis Head and his blitzkrieg batting. He started to tee off at the very beginning and smashed 20 off Rece Topley's over, Head then went for 6,6 and 4 to get 18 off Lockie Ferguson's over, following this he smacked 6,6 and 4 to race his way to fifty off only 20 balls inside the powerplay.
He didn’t stop the carnage after the powerplay, as he smoked Will Jacks for 6,6 and 4 to take 21 off his over. Head brought up his hundred off only 39 deliveries, 4th fastest in the history of IPL. However, Ferguson ended this entertaining knock as he removed Head for a fantastic 102 off just 41 balls, his innings was orchestrated by 8 massive monstrous blows and 9 gorgeous boundaries.
Heinrich Klaasen kept going with the same flow as he launched monstrous blows and smashed 7 sixes to make a fabulous 67 off 31 balls. Abdul Samad came as a floater to overflow SRH with boundaries, he raced his way to 37 off just 10 balls to post highest individual total of 287, bettering their own record of 277 in the IPL.
In reply, RCB too had a flying start. Both Kohli and Faf du Plessis started to tear apart the bowler as they raced to 79 runs inside the powerplay. Mayank Markande chopped on Kohli's stumps on 42 and gave SRH a crucial breakthrough. And then Cummins came to pick up two wickets in his second over to marginalise RCB.
However Du Plessis scored a fifty but couldn’t stand infront of Cummins. But Dinesh Karthik showed a ray of hope at the backend of the innings, smacking things everywhere of the park and scored a glorious 83 off just 35 balls to give SRH a scare but T Natarajan had him out hand SRH a 25 run victory.
