Barishal faced Dhaka in the eliminator on Monday (December 14). Sumon has been punished because of expressing dissatisfaction twice with the umpire's decision in the match. In the 16th over, the 20-year old pacer could not accept the decision of the umpire to call two wide balls off the pacer. Dissatisfaction with that decision was expressed clearly in his behavior.
No hearing was required against Sumon as he accepted his punishment. Sumon has been convicted of violating Level 1 of the Code of Conduct. The minimum penalty for violating this section is a formal warning and the maximum penalty is a fine of 50 per cent of the match fee as well as one or two demerit points.
