Shakib Al Hasan has been considered as poster boy of Bangladesh cricket. But he made a big mistake couple of years ago. He hid offer of match-fixing from a gambler to ICC, BCB or ACSU. As a result, International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him from all types of cricket for one year in 2019. Shakib has already returned to the field in full force after serving the ban. Meanwhile, it was learned that former Zimbabwe pacer Heath Streak has been given an 8-year ban for leaking team information to gambler. Streak was close to the Bangladesh team in the series in which Shakib was offered gambling and persuaded to leak team information. Former Bangladesh and Zimbabwe coach Streak was the link between Shakib and the gambler! Such a claim is not at all absurd now, but rather 'logical' enough after the punishment of Zimbabwe's pace legend. In 2017, Streak gave contact numbers of gamblers to three cricketers of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). ICC added that Streak, with whom he wanted to introduce gamblers, included a national team captain. Incidentally, before the ban, Shakib led the Bangladesh team in all three formats. In January 2018, Bangladesh played a tri-nation series at home with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The gambler congratulated Shakib when they beat Sri Lanka in that series and Shakib got the man of the match award. Strick was then in Bangladesh as the coach of the Zimbabwe team. Needless to say, Gambler Deepak Agarwal also asked Shakib for information inside the team. The main allegation against Streak was that he provided the gambler with internal information which the gamblers used to extort large sums of money. In the case of Shakib, the gambler Deepak Agarwal's name has been revealed, but in the case of Streak, the gambler has been introduced as 'Mr. X'. However, as far as the equation is concerned, Streak was the means by which the gambler got in touch with Shakib. The answer to the question of whether Deepak Agarwal, the gambler who is being dubbed as 'Mr X', may not be known at once. However, according to the flow of events, Streak is the 'close man' of Shakib, who gave the mobile phone numbers of several Bangladeshi cricketers including Shakib to the gambler. Apart from Shakib, no one was punished for complaining about the issue.
