Sri Lanka finalize squad for Test series against Pakistan

The Test squad for Sri Lanka's upcoming two-game series against Pakistan, which is due to start in Galle on July 16, has been finalized.
The squad will be officially announced once it has been approved by the Minister of Sport.
Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya will lead the spin attack as the selection decided to rule out left-armed spinner Lasith Embuldeniya and replace him with Praveen Jayawickrama.
During the 2023 Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan, both teams will play two friendlies. The 1st Test will take place on July 16-20 at the Galle International Stadium. The 2nd Test will be held from July 24th to 28th at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. In the run-up to the series, a two-day practice match will also take place starting tomorrow (July 11).
Dimuth Karunaratne, who led Sri Lanka in the previous WTC cycle, will lead the team in the Test series against Pakistan. Senior batters like Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva are part of the squad.
Nishan Madushka is selected as wicketkeeper and will open the innings with skipper Karunaratne in Pathum Nissanka's absence. Below is the full Sri Lanka Test squad, pending approval by the Minister of Sport.
