Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have announced their squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.
Led by Captain Dimuth Karunaratne, the team is a mix of seasoned veterans and promising young talent. Dhananjaya De Silva has been appointed Vice-Captain, strengthening the leadership core.
Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya will lead the spin attack as the selection decided to rule out left-armed spinner Lasith Embuldeniya and replace him with Praveen Jayawickrama.
Asitha Fernando is currently recovering from dengue fever and left seaman Dilshan Madushanka was selected in his absence.
The squad was announced after approval by the country's sports minister.
Currently, the Pakistani team is in Galle for the first test. They played a warm-up game against the Sri Lankan President's team in Hambantota. The game ended in a tie as Pakistan had a solid performance in both batting and bowling.
