South Africa are now on a full tour to Sri Lanka to play 2 tests, 5 ODIs and one T20I. In the test series the hosts showed pure dominance over visitors by a clean sweep of 2-0. After the humble defeat in test series the visitors wanted to start the  white ball format on a high note.  According to the schedule the ODI series started today (29th July) in Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch which assists bowlers more. As expected on the pitch the Lankan batsmen found more difficulties in the pitch to bat on. Only four Lankan batsman managed to score double digit scores. With the help of the partnership between the Pereras, the hosts managed to post a decent total of 193 in the board. The hosts were bowled out for 193 in just 34.3 overs. When the team was struggling in 36-5 the much needed partnership kept the hosts alive in the game. Kusal Perera played a valuable knock of 81 runs in 72 balls while his partner Thisara Perera scored 49 runs off just 30 balls. In the bowling department SA bowlers did a nice job for the team. Pacer Kagiso Rabada and the china-man spinner Tabraiz Shamsi took four wickets each. And Lungi Ngidi took one wicket. In reply, South Africa needed 194 runs to win the opener of the ODI series. Opener Quinton de Kock provided a solid opening for the visitors with 47 runs in 59 balls. Skipper Faf duPlessis and the left arm all-rounder JP Duminy made the chase easy for the visitors with their knock of 47 runs from 56 balls and 53 runs from 32 balls respectively. The visitors chased down the total in just 31 overs and they comfortably won the match by five wickets. In the Lankan bowling cards, the spinner Akila Dhananjaya who opened the bowling for Sri Lanka  took three wickets. Suranga Lakmal and Lakshan Sandakan took one wicket each. For this awesome spell of spin bowling Tabraiz Shamsi was awarded as the man of the match. The host skipper Angelo Mathews stated in the post match presentation that their batting performance was a complete disappointment in the match which led to the loss of the match. At the same time the winning captain Faf du Plessis credited their past experiences in playing in breezy conditions helped them to chase down the score comfortably.
