For his slow over-rate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined Rs 24 lakh.

The Impact Player and the other ten players were each fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match costs, whichever was lower, because it was his team's second overrate offence of the season.

Shubman Gill admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.

In the match, Gujrat Titans (GT) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 35 runs on Saturday (11th May) at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad. GT openers - Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan smashed hundreds to help GT post 231 on the board. In reply, Mohit Sharma's 3 wicket haul aided GT win the match by 35 runs.

Being asked to bat first, Gujrat Titans showed a tremendous partnership on top of the order between the captain Shubman Gill and young horse Sai Sudarshan. The dup were smashing the CSK bowlers at bay and built the join highest partnership (210) in the history of IPL. Both of the batters notched up their hundreds.

In reply, CSK had a terrible way to start their chase losing top three wickets cheaply, while their captain scored a golden duck. Though Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali tried, but in the end, it was not enough to seal the win for the team.
