In the latest development, it has been learnt that Shubman Gill has been discharged from the hospital in Chennai but remains a doubtful starter for the highly-anticipated clash against Pakistan as per recent reports. Recently, Shubman Gill was ruled out of India's World Cup opener against Australia due to dengue fever. 

Shubman GillThe youngster was admitted to Kaveri's hospital in Chennai and sought necessary treatment as well. The BCCI, in a statement, confirmed that Shubman Gill will not travel to Delhi on October 9.

As per the statement, Shubman Gill is expected to miss the upcoming clash against Afghanistan on October 11, which is scheduled to be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Shubman Gill was hospitalized in Chennai due to a low platelet count. The 24-year-old youngster was admitted for all tests on Sunday night but was discharged from the hospital by Monday evening.

"Shubman Gill was on a drip at the Chennai team hotel for the last couple of days. However his platelet count dropped to 70,000 and as it is the case with dengue patients, once the count is below 100,000, you are admitted to a medical facility as a precautionary measure," the BCCI source added.

"He was admitted for all mandatory tests on Sunday night when India played Australia but by Monday evening was released," a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has been the best-performing player in the ongoing calendar year as he is the only player to have completed 1000 runs in 2023. He scored five centuries, five fifties and 1 double century, which goes to show his imperious form.
