This World Cup has crossed more than one trillion minutes of views in broadcasting, including new technological innovations. Overall broadcasts increased by 38 percent compared to 2011 and 17 percent compared to the 2019 England World Cup.
India- Australia faced each other in the World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match has become the most watched match of ICC. Worldwide viewers watched 87.6 billion minutes live, 46 percent more than the 2011 final in India.
The game was watched by a large audience in host India as well. Disney Star had 422 billion view minutes, a 54 percent increase over 2011 and a 9 percent increase over 2019. Moreover, significant changes have been seen in the female audience.
Outside of India, broadcasts in the UK and Australia have increased significantly. The UK witnessed over 800 hours of live coverage resulting in 5.86 billion view minutes. Australia also set a record. They set a record of 3.79 billion view minutes with 602 hours of live coverage. This number is 92 percent higher than in 2011.
All in all, broadcasting, and online platforms have broken all previous records in this World Cup. Platforms like Disney Plus, Hotstar set new records. Apart from this, various videos have gone viral.
