Johnson, Aaron Hardie, and Matt Short. Australia is going to take the field in
the series against South Africa after making a complete change from the team
that played in the T20 World Cup at home in October last year.
Regular faces David Warner, Josh Hazlewood, and Cameron Green have been rested ahead of the ODI series. On the other hand, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell are not playing due to injuries. The new captain Mitchell Marsh is going to enter the field with a new-style Australia XI.
All the new three faces have shone in the Big Bash League (BBL). Matt Short, winner of the Big Bash Cricketer of the Tournament award last season, will be seen opening the innings along with Travis Head. On the other hand, Spencer Johnson can be seen with the new ball. Johnson will bowl alongside Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis in the bowling unit. Along with that, leg spinner Adam Zampa has got a place in the XI as the only spinner.
Hardie will play at No. 7. However, he was successful playing at No. 3 in the Big Bash. However, with T20 World Cup less than a year away, Australia can also conduct some experiments with the team. In that case, it will not be surprising if Hardie will be played at No. 3 for the rest of the series.
Australia will take on South Africa in Durban tomorrow in the first T20I of the series. The match will start at 10 pm Bangladesh time.
Australia XI: Matt Short, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh (c), Josh Inglis (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Aaron Hardie, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson.
