Punjab Kings beat Gujrat Titans by 3 wickets on Thursday (4th April) in a nail-biting finish. Shashank Singh's swashbuckling 61* off 29 balls was the highlight behind their victory.
Being inserted to bat first, Gujrat got off to a decent start and Kane Williamson ended the powerplay on a high. But they lost the momentum with the field spread and Brar got Kane out. Sai Sudarshan came to the crease and hit the ball sweetly. He was outsmarted by a slower from Harshal Patel. Vijay Shankar came in and tried to get going but couldn’t. Gill played a captain's knock and bossed the Ahmedabad once again.
Gill finished with a glorious 89* off 48 balls, while Tewatia helped Gill with his breezy cameo off 23 off 8 balls and helped GT post 199 on the board.
In reply, Shikhar Dhawan was removed by Umesh but some cameos from Bairstow and Prabhasimran kept the required run-rate in check. But a brilliant spell from Noor changed the course of the game as he struck in quick succession to remove both of them packing. Sam Curran couldn't make any impact as he fell cheaply. And then Shashank Singh came and he fueled PBKS to chase the total with his lusty blows. Smacking the Gujrat bowlers everywhere of the park and raced his way to 61 off only 29 balls to chase down the total with 3 wickets remaining and 1 ball to spare.
