Bangladesh lit up the Gaddafi Stadium with their gun batting when the odds came against them. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Najmul Shanto and Miraz's glorious innings made the Afghans knee down and helped Bangladesh post a massive 334 on the board.
In the do or die match, they gave Miraz a chance to open the innings with Naim Sheikh to fulfil the demand of left and right combo. Naim started off to a flier. He was dealing in boundaries. He raced to 28 off 32 only before getting bowled to Mujeeb - Ur Rahman but made sure to laid a strong platform for Bangladesh. Mehedi Miraz on the other hand was aiding him with his second fiddle role.
After the departure of Naim, Bangladesh made a blunder by giving Towhid a chance to up the order as he failed to capitalise his chance and went back to the pavilion by Gulbadin Naib without opening the run book. However Najmul Shanto came and started to handle the sheep with the senior Miraz.
Miraz and Shanto depicted then an indomitable partnership. The guys added 215 runs on the board at 4th wicket and chsnged the entire scenario of the match. Shanto was dealing in boundaries and also once Miraz got himself into in he too started smack the Afghani bowlers for fun. Miraz got his second ODI hundred off only 112 balls, while Shanto too notched up his third ODI hundred off only 101 deliveries.
After the departure of these both, Shakib Al Hasan and Shamim Hossain took the rein. Shakib upped the ante and started to whack everything that came towards him. Shakib was unbeaten on 32* off only 18 balls and Bangladesh scored an indomitable 334 on the board.
