Eight Pakistani players including Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez and Asif Ali will feature in the upcoming Zim Afro T10 League 2023.

Eight Pakistani cricketers will compete in the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 League this year.

Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has joined the Durban Qalandars for the upcoming debut edition of the Zim Afro T10.

In addition to Amir, the Qalandars have also signed the likes of Craig Ervine, Asif Ali, Tahir Baig, Hilton Cartwright, Tim Siefert and Tayyab Abbas, and bolstered their batting squad with strong batsmen.

Meanwhile, Harare Hurricanes have signed Pakistani pacesetter Shahnawaz Dahani for the tournament. The Hurricanes are co-owned by Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt.

Meanwhile, Usman Shinwari and Mohammad Hafeez have both been drafted by the Johannesburg Buffaloes.

The Zim Afro T10 will see five teams fighting for the championship, including the Durban Qalandars, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves, Harare Hurricanes and Joburg Buffaloes.

Notably, the Zim Afro T10 League will mark the first time a franchise league has become part of Zimbabwean cricket.

It is worth mentioning here that five cricketers will be selected from Zimbabwe's Emerging Players Programme, which aims to give young players a chance to step onto the big stage, and will be added to each team's roster in the coming days.

“This is a historic day for Zimbabwean cricket and we can't wait to open the doors to such talented cricketers. Each of the five teams looks extremely strong and I'm sure the cricket on display will be first class," said Zimbabwe Cricket chief executive Givemore Makoni.

"And I'm excited that the Zim Afro T10 will also give young cricketers a boost as they get to work alongside some of the best players in the world."
