Sean Abbott shined with both batting and bowling in the second match of the three-match ODI series. Australia won by 83 runs against the West Indies thanks to Abbott's all-round skills. As a result of this victory, the hosts won the series with one match in hand in the three-match series.

West Indies won the toss at the Sydney Cricket Ground and sent Australia into bat first. Starting to bat first, Aussie opener Jake Fraser-McGurk attacked from the start. But his innings ended in the first over. This cricketer who came down to play the first ODI match of his career returned to dressing room after scoring 10 runs off 5 balls. Another opener Josh Inglis could not last long either. Losing two openers quickly, Australia fell under some pressure.

Then Cameron Green tried to handle the situation. Green, who batted at No. 3, was very fluent with the bat. Skipper Steve Smith, however, got out after scoring 5 runs off 10 balls. On the other hand, Green played an innings of 33 runs off 41 balls. 

Marnus Labuschagne got off to a good start but failed to extend the innings. He departed after scoring 26 runs off 33 balls. After that, Matthew Short resisted for a while. He had to depart before touching the fifty even if he raised the possibility of fifty. He got out scoring 41 runs off 55 balls. Australia lost 7 wickets for 167 runs.

At the end, just when the pressure was on, Sean Abbott continued to lead the team forward with counter-attacking batting from one end. The rest also helped Abbott by playing short but effective innings. Abbott got out in the penultimate over after playing an innings of 69 runs from 63 balls after scoring fifty. At the end of the scheduled 50 overs, Australia lost 9 wickets and scored 258 runs.

Gudakesh Motie took 3 wickets for West Indies at the cost of only 28 runs.

West Indies stumbled in response. Two openers Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves were dismissed inside the first 5 overs. Captain Shai Hope and Keacy Carty led the team with responsible batting. 53 runs came from the pair of the two in the fourth wicket. Hope departed after scoring 29 runs off 65 balls. On the other hand, Carty played an innings of 40 runs off 51 balls.

Roston Chase also got off to a good start. However, he could not extend his innings. He departed after scoring 25 runs off 41 balls. The others could not shed much light either. West Indies were bowled out for 175 runs. Australia secured the win by 83 runs.

Sean Abbott and Josh Hazlewood took 3 wickets each for Australia. Will Sutherland got 2 wickets. Besides, Adam Zampa and Aaron Hardie picked up 1 wicket each.    

This win gave Australia a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The series win was assured with one match to spare.
