The schedule of the three-game T20 International (T20I) series between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been revised, the boards of both nations announced on Thursday.

The schedules for the historic T20I series between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been revised after the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) jointly agreed to make minor changes to the itinerary.

According to a joint statement by the two cricket executives, the start of the three-game T20I series has been brought forward by a day and will now start on March 24, while the remaining two games will be played on March 25 and 27 in Sharjah.

The itinerary changes are being made due to the unavailability of Hawk-Eye technology for the previously agreed dates. The two bodies have agreed on the itinerary changes to ensure all necessary transmission technologies for the first T20I series are available between the two sides.

The final of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played on March 19, after which the Pakistan national team will travel to Sharjah for the three-game series.

"Afghanistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board have jointly agreed to make minor changes to the itinerary of Afghanistan's three-game T2OI home series against Pakistan," ACB said in a statement.

"The start of the series will be brought forward by one day and will now begin on March 24, with the last two matches being played in Sharjah, UAE on March 26 and 27," it said.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), both teams played a singles ODI in Sharjah in 2012 and a T20I in 2013 at the same venue. Both games were won by Pakistan.

Notably, the upcoming T20I series will be the first bilateral series between Pakistan and Afghanistan as the two teams had previously only met at Asia Cups and ICC events.

Revised Schedule

  • March 24: 1st T20I, Sharjah
  • March 26: 2nd T20I, Sharjah
  • March 27: 3rd T20I, Sharjah
