Surrey batsman Kumar Sangakkara has brought up his fifth consecutive century in the first division of County Championship 2017-18 season. He is the eighth batsman to hit five centuries in five innings in first-class cricket. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ সাঙ্গাকারার টানা পাঁচ সেঞ্চুরি!] Sangakkara had hit four back-to-back centuries in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand which was his last ODI assignment. This time, he does something special again as he is set to bid adieu to first-class cricket at the end of the season. The left-hander scored 136 in the second innings against Lancashire in April. He made 105 against Warwickshire in the only innings he batted in the match. The county championship was on a break. As soon ass the break ended, Sanga smashed yet another super performance. He hammered 114 and 120 against Middlesex at Lord's last week. It was four hundreds in four innings for the 39-year-old. With number awaiting, Surrey lost two wickets for nine runs against Essex and Chelmsford. He took the game away from Essex and helped Surrey finish at 334/7 in 96 overs in the first day. Sangakkara brought up his 61st first-class hundred. He is unbeaten on 177 runs off 276 deliveries including 23 fours. He becomes only the eighth batsman in the history of first-class cricket to score five centuries in five innings. CB Fry, Mike Procter and Don Bradman had six centuries in a row. Everton Weekes, Brian Lara, Michael Hussey and Parthiv Patel had also scored five centuries in five innings. Despite Sangakkara retired from international cricket and is set to quit first-class cricket, he is a complete run machine and no one can have doubt about it.
