According to assistant coach Shane Bond, the Rajasthan Royals will be without fast bowler Sandeep Sharma for Wednesday's encounter against the Gujarat Titans in Jaipur. This follows the Royals' fourth consecutive victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Sandeep Sharma, an important bowler for the Rajasthan Royals, has had a rough start to the IPL 2024 season. In the first game against Lucknow Super Giants, he did a great job. In his three overs, he took an important wicket and only gave up 22 runs. In the second game against RCB, though, he played worse and gave up 36 runs in four overs.
Shane Bond addressed Sandeep Sharma's absence during the post-match press conference. He added that Sandeep has a small niggle and would most likely miss the next encounter. However, Bond assured supporters that Sandeep is recovering and would be back soon.
“We are just working through. He got a little niggle. Sandeep Sharma is unlikely for the next game but he is closer and closer (to comeback). If you look at all the teams, everyone is dealing with niggles, aches and pains all over the place. I think it’s one of the challenges trying to keep your team fit and firing around the park. Lucky for us we got good depth in our side. We will get Sandeep back soon from NCA adding to the depth of our bowling stocks. We do miss Sandeep Sharma, he has been such a good player for us in first couple of games,” Bond said.
