Punjab Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets on Wednesday (16th May) at Barasapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Excellent bowling from Sam Curran, Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar marginalised RR for a paltry 144 on the board. In reply, Sam Curran's outstanding 63 off 41 helped them chase down the total.

Sam Curran took two crucial wickets with the ball and then played a fantastic 63 run knock to paddle his side through the line to win it for PBKS. 

Choosing to bat first, RR had a horrid way to start their innings. Sam Curran drew the first blood as he knocked over Yashasvi Jaiswal for 4 runs. Kohler-Cadmore gave RR a tepid start as he consumed 23 balls to score just 18 runs. Captain Sanju Samson made 18 off 15 balls before falling to Nathan Ellis.

Ruyan Parag played a fantastic knock of 48 off 34 balls and was trapped for LBW. Ravichandran Ashwin gave a flourish to the innings as he made 28 off 19 balls and RR posted 144 on the board.

Sam Curran, Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel all had two wickets apiece. Nathan Ellis and Arshdeep Singh shared one wicket each.

In reply, Punjab Kings also had a tortoise like start as Jonny Bairstow found it tough to get going. He took 22 balls to score only 14 runs. Riley Rossow came and gave the innings a much needed momentum as he made 22 off 13 balls. It was the stand-in captain of the side, Sam Curran who played a fantastic knock to paddle his side over the line.

Curran scored a brilliant 63 off 41 deliveries at a strike rate of 153.66, with the help of 3 gigantic sixes and 5 fours he helped his side cruise pass the line and win the match by 5 wickets.
