Rohit Sharma Climbs to Third in ICC ODI Rankings, Mitchell Santner Now Second Among Bowlers

Following India National Cricket Team victory over New Zealand National Cricket Team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final on March 9, several Indian and New Zealand players have made significant gains in the latest ICC ODI rankings.

India's captain Rohit Sharma has surged to the third position in the latest ICC ODI rankings following a remarkable performance in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Rohit’s half-century (76 off 83 balls) was pivotal in India’s victory over New Zealand helping his side secure their third ICC Champions Trophy title. His impressive showing in Dubai has now placed him just 14 rating points behind Pakistan player Babar Azam.
Young Indian star Shubman Gill continues to dominate the ICC ODI batting rankings maintaining his top spot after an outstanding Champions Trophy campaign. Gill’s consistency throughout the tournament has kept him ahead of his rivals and the gap between the top two batters remains tight.
Meanwhile Virat Kohli dropped one place to fifth in the rankings, with 736 points to his name. Despite his dip in the rankings, Kohli remains a vital player for India.
Several New Zealand players have made significant gains in the ODI batting rankings. Daryl Mitchell’s performances in the Champions Trophy have propelled him to the sixth position while teammates Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips have also seen major leaps moving up to 14th and 24th respectively.

Mitchell Santner Jumps to No. 2 Among ODI Bowlers
New Zealand’s captain and spinner Mitchell Santner has moved up six places to second in the ICC ODI bowling rankings following a stellar performance in the Champions Trophy. Santner claimed nine wickets throughout the tournament securing his highest-ever position in the rankings. He is now only behind Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana.
India’s Kuldeep Yadav also made notable progress, climbing three spots to reach third in the bowling charts. His seven wickets including crucial dismissals of Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra in the final were instrumental in India’s successful campaign.
