Being invited to bat first, Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad had a decent opening stand as both of them added 64 runs inside 8 overs before Harpreet Brar removed the former one on 29 off 24 balls. Shivam Dube at number three had a golden duck as he fell to Brar. Rahul Chahar came in and instantly had impact as he got Jadeja out. CSK were crumbling on 70-3.
However, Ruturaj Gaikwad played a brilliant innings to steer the ship as he scored 62 off only 48 balls to post 162 on the board.
Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar were the heroes behind PBKS' brilliant bowling in the innings against CSK.
In reply, PBKS lost Prabhsimran earlier on for 13 off 10. But Jonny Bairstow and Riley Rossow depicted a stunning partnership, which killed the chase instantly. The duo stitched 64 runs stand and put away CSK out of the competition. Bairstow made a fine 46 off only 39 balls, with the help of 1 six and 7 boundaries. While Riley Rossow was the accelerator of the partnership as he raced his way to 43 off just 23 balls to splash PBKS towards the chase.
Afrer the departure of these two, it was skipper Sam Curran and Shashank Singh who won it for PBKS. This doublets had a 50 run stand which helped PBKS chase down the total with 7 wickets in hands and 13 balls to spare.
