However, paceman Rahi on Friday (January 29) said they have been keeping themselves ready for any circumstances all this while. He also credited Sylhet devision for creating a platform for him to form a partnership with other two pacers, who are also from Sylhet.
When asked about waiting for a long time to return to international cricket, Rahi said: "Waiting means... We last played Test against Zimbabwe in February 2020. So after a full year we are going to play Test cricket. We have been waiting all this time. Masha Allah, cricket has started again, and we are also going to play Test soon. We want to start strongly."
Revealing how he and his other two pace bowling partners kept themselves motivated amid the coronavirus pandemic, Rahi said: "If you talk about motivation, we practiced among ourselves. There were many times where we practiced among ourselves at the Sylhet stadium.
"Me, Ebadot and Khaled, we all tried to ensure that when cricket begins, we can maintain our workload. We didn't worry about when cricket will begin again but tried to stick to our process," he added.
Rahi, who has so far played 9 Tests, 2 ODIs and 3 T20Is for Bangladesh national side, also thanked Sylhet division for giving them a lot of priority.
"We have to thank Sylhet division for this since when we play first class cricket they gave us a lot of priority. There are times that all three of us playing and bowling and we are bowling a lot. I have said before that the more we bowl, the more we will learn.
"Previously, Ebadot and Khaled didn't like to bowl a lot of overs but now when we play first class cricket, we like to bowl a lot. There is a competition among us. The three of us being in Tests is because of the priority given to us by Sylhet division in first class cricket. This is why the three of us are here."
