Ireland have their first win in the tournament by beating UAE with a massive margin of 138 runs on Thursday (27th June) at Bulawayo Athletic Club, Bulawayo.
Earlier the day, United Arab Emirates won the toss and chose to bowl first. The dynamic opener Paul Stirling who had been insipid throughout the tournament. Paul Stirling played a fantastic knock in Ireland's last outing in the tournament. He scored 162 off only 134 balls. His innings was orchestrated with 15 boundaries and 8 humongous sixes with a jaw dropping strike rate of 120.9. While the other batters supported him as well.
Skipper Bilbirnie scored a fluent 66 off just 88 deliveries and the young batting prodigy from Ireland scored a quick-fire cameo of 57 off only 33 deliveries with an astonishing strike rate of 172.73. In the end, Tucker's 11 ball 19 and Dockrell's 15 off 7 helped Ireland post a mountainous 349-4 in alloted 50 overs.
Climbing the mountain, UAE openers responded very well as they added 58 runs in the opening stand that too inside the powerplay but an unlucky run out sent Muhammad Waseem packing for his fine 45 off 32. After the departure of Waseem, UAE fell into a deep sea and collapsed horribly as they went for losing wickets in regular intervals. Basil Hameed in the middle made 39 off 52 and Sanchit Sharma scored 44 off 54 deliveries which helped UAE pass 200 run barrier and score 211-10. They were wrapped inside 39 overs and Ireland pocketed the match by a massive margin of 138 runs.
