Sri Lanka have thrashed England by 8 wickets to have their fourth Test victory in England on Monday (September 9) at the Kennington Oval, London. Pathum Nissanka's incredible 127* run knock before an exceptional demonstration of fast bowling masterclass from Vishwa Fernando and Lahiru Kumara helped Sri Lanka have their fourth Test victory on English shores.
Pathum Nissanka hammered an unbeaten 127* to blow away England to claim Sri Lanka's fourth Test victory in England.
England fumbled in the second innings pathetically. They were 62 runs ahead after the first innings but their second innings batting was quite a callous to the situation. Barring the Wicket-keeper batter Jamie Smith, no one stood up for the side, rather they kept giving away their starts with ridiculous shots.
Credit must go on to the Lankan bowlers as well. Vishwa Fernando and Lahiru Kumara did the damage, scalping 7 wickets altogether to blow up England for a measly 156 runs, with the lead of 218 only.
In reply of 219, Pathum Nissanka unearthed his beast mood, batting with lot freedom, he hammered everyone he saw. At first bringing up a quick-fire fifty on day thrre and kept the ship going single handedly on day four. He batted in the Bazball style to knock down the Bazball team.
Nissanka scored a mesmerizing 127* off only 124 deliveries, which included 2 gigantic sixes and 13 boundaries. Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews too gave their hands with their 30's knocks.
This is Sri Lanka's only fourth Test victory in England. The last time they did was back in 2014 at the Headingley. The series scoreline is 2-1 to England, but Sri Lanka will be much happier side with their fantastic efforts over the last two matches, unearthing some sensational talents.
