In anticipation of the upcoming 50-over World Cup, due to be held in India later this year, West Indies cricket legend Chris Gayle has shared his predictions for the tournament.

West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle has urged players from India and Pakistan to demand more money as he believes the clash between the two arch-rivals is the highest-paying game on TV and in their place he would have wanted more.

The India-Pakistan matches have always been high-intensity games. Whenever they play the atmosphere is undefinable as spectators, players and everyone involved in the game is under a lot of pressure and it is considered one of the greatest games in sport.

The much-anticipated India-Pakistan match at the 2023 World Cup is scheduled to take place on October 15 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gayle humorously mentioned that if he were given a position of authority within the cricket bodies or the ICC, he would advocate significantly increased financial compensation for players participating in these high-profile games.

“I control neither the board nor the ICC. If I were in her place, I would wish for a lot more," he added.
Meanwhile, hotel prices in Ahmedabad have risen sharply after the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed arch-rivals in the city will clash.

The prices for hotel accommodation have increased almost tenfold, although many rooms were already fully booked for that day. Some hotels even charge close to 100,000 Indian Rupees (INR), while their usual rates range from 5,000 to 8,000 INR for the same room on a normal day.

As the Narendra Modi Stadium has a capacity of around 132,000 spectators, it is expected to be completely full when these arch-rivals meet again.
