Pakistan broke a drought of more than five years and wrote a piece of history of their own with an impressive 10-run win over New Zealand in the second T20I of their series in Dunedin on Tuesday.
The Pakistan women's team created history with its first win in the T20I series against the New Zealand women's team at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday
New Zealand Women had a record of 8-0 against Pakistan Women in T20Is before early December 2023.
It was the first time in its history that Pakistan won a T20I series against the White Ferns and it was also their first away win in the T20I series since defeating Bangladesh in October 2018.
After winning the first game at the same venue by 7 wickets, the Girls in Green outclassed their opponents by 10 runs in the second game to secure a crucial 2-0 lead.
The Pakistan women's team scored 137 runs first and lost six wickets in the twenty overs. Aalia Riaz scored a quick 32 off 22 by hitting one shot over the boundary and three shots to the fence. Muneeba Ali scored 35.
In return, New Zealand were at 89/6 at one point thanks to Pakistan's disciplined bowling, before Georgia Pimmer and Hamma Rowe fought back and tried to bring the hosts back into the game.
However, they were still 10 runs short as Fatima Sana successfully defended 17 runs in the last over. Fatima Sana got three wickets while Sadia Iqbal sent two players back to the pavilion.
The third and final game of the series will be held in Queenstown on Saturday.
