Ahead of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, Pakistan will send a security delegation to India to inspect the venues where the Men in Green will play during the mega-event from October 5th to November 19th.
According to the sources, security will be checked at the venues for Pakistan's matches. The delegation is expected to visit the Indian cities of Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
The security team's trip is set to come after consultations with the Home and Foreign Ministries and the election of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.
"The security delegation, represented by the PCB, will inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and the security and other arrangements made for them at the World Cup," an official source at the Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination (Sport) was quoted as saying Press Trust of India said on Saturday.
The purpose of the security delegation's visit is to survey Pakistan's venues and review the security and other arrangements made for the team during the World Cup. A representative of the PCB will accompany the delegation. The most significant game between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on October 15 and the delegation will examine the arrangements specifically for this game.
The Pakistan Cricket Board will transmit the delegation's report to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) if any concerns or recommendations are raised. This ensures that the safety and comfort of Pakistani players and other stakeholders are given due consideration.
A PCB source mentioned that during Pakistan's previous visit to India for the T20 World Cup, a joint government delegation was sent to inspect the venues. As a result of their recommendations, the Pakistan-India game originally scheduled to take place in Dharamsala was moved to Kolkata.
The final decision on Pakistan's participation in the World Cup will not be announced until the government gives approval to the PCB. The ODI World Cup is scheduled to take place in ten Indian cities from October 5th to November 19th.
