Renowned England pacer Stuart Broad has announced his retirement from Test cricket following the final of the five-match Ashes series against Australia at the Kia Oval.

Cricketers, experts and fans were quick to congratulate Broad on a splendid career in the purest cricket format of 16 years.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam and cricket committee chief Misbah-ul-Haq congratulated England pacer Stuart Broad on a remarkable career as the 37-year-old played his last international match on Monday.

Broad, 37, announced on Saturday during a post-match interview at the end of Day 3 that he was retiring from international cricket after the fifth Test.

The pacer also played his last cap against Australia at Ashes 2023, where he ended his career with a game-winning wicket on his last ball.

Azam took to Twitter to pay tribute to the 37-year-old for his 600 Test wickets and many other accomplishments.

"Happy retirement, Broad! They truly honored our game with sheer passion and ability to always do their best. "Over 600 Test wickets is quite an achievement and Cricket will always remember your services," Babar tweeted.

On the other hand, former Pakistani captain Misbah also praised the England international for his exceptional cricket career.

"Congratulations @StuartBroad8 on such an incredible career and a memorable finish in the last wicket for a successful cause. Congratulations to @ECBcricket and @CricketAus for doing something so great," Misbah tweeted.

Broad served for England for over 15 years. He recently took 600 Test wickets and became the third highest wicket-taker in Ashes history with 150 wickets, behind only Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

The 37-year-old made his international debut on August 28, 2006 in a T20 game against Pakistan in Bristol. He has been a key player in England since his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2007.

The pacesetter represented England in 167 games for 600 wickets in his legendary Test career, including a career-best 8-15 against Australia in 2015.

As well as contributing to bowling, the 37-year-old hit 3,656 runs in his Test career, notching a career-high 169 against Pakistan in 2010.

The 37-year-old broad also played his country 121 ODIs and 56 T20Is, taking 243 wickets in the process. His career-best 5-23 in ODIs came against South Africa in 2008.
