Former Pakistan cricketer and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram believes that Pakistan has a strong chance of beating India in Test cricket, particularly if the matches are held on spinning tracks.

Akram’s comments follow India's shocking 0-3 defeat at home to New Zealand, their first series loss on home soil in 12 years, which exposed India's vulnerability against spin bowling.

Reflecting on India's struggles against New Zealand's left-arm spinners, Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel, Akram expressed confidence that Pakistan could capitalize on similar conditions.

He pointed out that Pakistan, under the leadership of Shan Masood, could pose a serious threat to India if a Test series were played on spin-friendly pitches. Pakistan recently secured a 2-1 series victory against England at home, further boosting their confidence.

"Pakistan can now beat India on the turners," Akram said, suggesting that India's once-strong reputation against spin had faltered. Earlier former England player Michael Vaughan said that a potential Test series between India and Pakistan would be monumental for cricket, given the shared passion between the two nations.

"I would want to see a Test series between India and Pakistan. Pakistan can now beat India on the turners,” Vaughan said on-air during the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan (via The Indian Express).
“It will be massive. It will be good for the game, for two cricket crazy nations. Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Tests now on a spinning track. They have been hammered by New Zealand 3-0 at home," Wasim Akram replied.

India and Pakistan last met in a Test series during Pakistan’s 2008 tour of India, where India won the three-match series 1-0.
